Next Friday, the 9th September, the New Wind Atlas of Peru will be presented in the Hall of Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru in Lima, the Atlas was elaborated by Barlovento in collaboration with Vortex.
The consortium led by Vortex and Barlovento was awarded the international tender convened by the Ministry of Energy and Mines in which several prestigious consultancy companies bided. The project was framed within the Program for the Efficient and Sustainable Management of the Peruvian Power Resources (PROSEMER), carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) and financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The contract was signed on the 15th October 2015, works started straight away and have lasted for almost one year.
This project consisted not only in the updating of the Wind Atlas of Peru using meteorological modelling, but also in developing wind measurement campaigns and power assessment studies at strategic points.
Among other, the Vice minister of Energy of Peru and the General Director of Electricity will be present in this event. On the part of Barlovento, the General Manager of the group, the Director of Barlovento Latinoamérica and one of our experts in wind energy will be there to present the Atlas, its operation and usage, and the software Micro-Renova Peru, power calculating tool developed for the small wind energy sector.
